This past Saturday, we headed off to REI to rent snowshoes and then headed up Big Cottonwood canyon. We originally set off for a particular trail. However, Elizabeth gave false directions so we ended up going up...who knows where (the hike before Dog Lake). Since we had no particular destination it allowed for plenty of time for snow play. On the way down the path was so steep at a few points, that we could sit on the back of our snowshoes and go "shoeledding."

Mary started sitting up feet first, but I think I gave her a fairly aggressive push that propelled her to the head first position.

The Fluff

I know most of you have been dying to see my beau. Well I have always wanted a pet, but due to my allergies my parents never let me have one. Several of my siblings had pets, but my parents never gave in to my begging. Jeremy and I had an agreement that we would not have any pets till we had children....


This summer, I was casually looking on craigslist as I often do just to see if there are any hypo allergenic dogs people are trying to find a new home for. I found beau. He is seven or eight years old, but still has the energy of a puppy. Mary convinced my mom that she needed this dog, and I agreed that the next time my mom decided to move I would become the new owner. Well, Mary went out of town for about 3 weeks after we got him so he became very attached to me. Mary doesn't really claim him anymore. Jeremy is grateful we have had this experience of having a little creature to take care of and discipline before children. We love Beau! I call him fluff.

Jeremy and I have found short weekend trips to be so refreshing and thought clearing. Simple non-exotic destinations have provided serendipitous experiences. For example on our last short excursion to St. George we found an incredible art gallery. We both fell in love with one of the small miniature paintings and quickly became owners of this small piece of art.

Logan was the destination we chose this weekend. Both of us attended college at Utah State, (different years) which is in Logan, so it was fun to go back to our college town. We found a fun Bed & Breakfast to stay in. We picked the autumn room as you can see above. I can't remember the last time I took a nice hot bubble bath.

It ended up being a "bee weekend." Now this might sound funny, but seriously we did not intentionally plan this. We started the weekend by going to see the BEE movie, which was quite fun. We went to the Bluebird cafe for dinner then to a local art gallery. We have gone to an art gallery on every vacation since our honeymoon in Carmel, CA. This morning we went to the Cox Honey farm, and bought our favorite honey taffy. Then we went to Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville, UT. The hot springs were so relaxing and for a minute we forgot it was winter. They are natural mineral springs, and they have a half dozen pools. The temperatures vary from 70 to 107 degrees. So we had a great time going from hot to cold and back again. Not to mention that our skin feels amazing!

We needed an excuse to buy a lot of candy a few weeks ago, so we decided to invite a few friends over and create gingerbread houses. We're pretty proud of them!

Blog Inspiration

I feel inspired to start this blog for several reasons. The first being that I love to read Adam and Nora Harrison's blog (our really good friends). I keep up on their lives secretly, but with permission from them. The second reason is that Jeremy has been encouraging me to find a "quiet hobby." What an insightful husband. He notices that I like to go and go and go till I crash rather than take small amounts of down time here and there. So I decided to create "social" quiet time. Now you all can be a part of my quiet time.
